Travel, natural dyeing, hat making and felting

Catching up!!!

How time flies by, especially when you are busy travelling and taking courses which is what I have been doing since before the end of last year. It is time though to catch up, get organized and back to work.....so here is my catch up ........

September 2014 London, Scotland and Yorkshire.

I flew into London and had a lovely catch up dinner with my friend Nori before  taking the overnight train up to Inverness, Scotland.

In inverness I went up in the highlands and did a natural dyeing course, foraging for plants and dyeing on outside fires.

After Inverness I took the train to Edinburgh to study hat making with a very talented milliner.

I really enjoyed Scotland and was sad to leave but family was calling so I took another train, this time to Yorkshire to catch up with my family and give a felting class to a lovely group of WI ladies.

2014 Sharit's new workshops and a new baby

3 weeks into this new year and its all go, new plans and new projects are already underway.

First of all Sharit is returning to Buenos Aires November 4-12 with a 4 day combined workshop and a three day jacket/coat workshop. All the details coming shortly when Sharit arrives back from her trip to Africa next week.

Secondly, my dear friend Lila is expecting her first baby. Luna Catalina, is due in April so i am busy preparing blankets and coverlets, booties and little dresses....at last a little girl to make girly things for:)
Yes,I know, the dress probably fits a 2 year old and the first booties I made a doll, but I will get there with the right sizes soon.

So far I have made a lovely white silk cot coverlet, both sides made of silk and soft merino wool felted into the silk and a silk/wool blanket with silk in one side and soft merino wool n the other.

Eco Print Workshop with Irit Dulman

'
I was very lucky to be able to attend a workshop with the very talented Irit Dulman organized by Luciana Morrone and  Andrea Bustelo in Buenos Aires just a couple of weeks ago.
I had very little previous experience with this technique so it was a great honor to learn with such a talented botanical print artist.

                                                       Eucalyptus leaves and tree bark

                          Unwrapping, my favorite part.....rose leaves...

Thank you Irit, it was a pleasure meeting you ....

Felting in Holland with Sharit

Organizing Sharit's workshops in Buenos Aires was a lot of work. we met up in London to work out details, spoke on the phone and ohundreds of emails went back and forth.
Once Charity arrived to Buenos Aires it was all go, cutting silks, dyeing, wool, plastics, tapes, the hotel, heating water, coffee, lunches, tango classes, BBQ, trip to Iguazu falls, etc etc. we all had a fantastic time but no time for felting for me:(
Charity flew back to Holland on a Sunday and the following Saturday I flew to the UK to visit family, catch up with friends and then before flying back to BA I flew with my husband to Holland to do some felting with Charity in her home studio and do a little bit of  sightseeing.
